What does mining logistics consist of?

Mining logistics consists of the set of specialized processes and services that make it possible to plan, coordinate, and execute the transportation, storage, and distribution of materials, machinery, and minerals throughout the entire value chain of a mining project. It covers everything from the import of equipment and supplies required for mine exploration and operation to the export of minerals to international markets.

This type of logistics requires a high level of technical expertise, as it operates in remote environments, with heavy or oversized cargo, high safety standards, and strict regulatory compliance. Efficient mining logistics is essential to ensure operational continuity, optimize costs, and guarantee that mining projects are carried out safely, sustainably, and profitably.

At TIBA, we offer international mining logistics services designed to support every stage of mining projects. We manage the transportation, storage, import, and export of minerals, as well as heavy machinery, industrial equipment, tools, and spare parts for metallic, non-metallic, and energy mining operations.

We work with minerals such as copper, silver, zinc, lead, aluminum, and coal, ensuring safe, efficient operations tailored to the demands of the mining industry.

Logistics solutions for mining projects

At TIBA, we develop comprehensive mining logistics solutions tailored to every stage of the project, from initial planning to the export of minerals to international markets.

Stages of a mining project

Mining projects are structured into four phases, each with specific logistics requirements:

  • Technical and environmental studies

Field operations carried out to assess the project’s feasibility and its environmental impact.

  • Mine development and preparation

Transportation of infrastructure, heavy machinery, and supplies required for mining operations.

  • Mining operation and extraction

Continuous logistics for supply, maintenance, and mineral transportation.

  • Mine closure

Logistics management for equipment, dismantling operations, and material removal.

Mining equipment supply

We design and execute mining supply chain logistics, coordinating the import of heavy and oversized machinery through specialized equipment and maximum safety protocols for high-tonnage cargo.

Mining supply chain logistics management

We manage:

  • Import of mining machinery and equipment.
  • International transportation of bulk minerals.
  • Storage in bonded warehouses and general warehouses.
  • Consolidation and deconsolidation of cargo.
  • Logistics coordination in remote areas.

Mine outbound logistics and mineral export

We coordinate the international export of minerals, managing the entire logistics process:

  • Loading of materials directly from the mine.
  • Temporary storage and stockpile warehouses.
  • Weighing, tallying, and dispatch to port.
  • Delivery to the final destination.

We operate in remote locations, providing comprehensive logistics solutions throughout the operational phase, from equipment supply to the outbound transportation of minerals from the mine.

Mining logistics and transportation services

Handling, storage, and transportation.

  • Multimodal transportation

Depending on the needs of mining companies, we are equipped to handle different logistics methods in order to provide a “Door to Door” service:

    • Road or rail transportation: extensive network of providers with authorized and/or certified units for high-altitude operations and high-risk routes, adapting to the standards established by mining companies.
    • International air freight: for the rapid positioning of spare parts and urgent imports and exports through different airlines.
    • International ocean freight: contracting shipping lines, issuing bills of lading, destination handling, and real-time vessel status tracking through our MyTIBA system.
  • Storage

In addition to outbound mine logistics, we offer cargo storage both in national warehouses (general storage facilities) and bonded warehouses, awaiting customs clearance for distribution or re-export. These facilities also provide additional services such as stock control and mineral packaging, among others.

  • Port and airport services

We carry out product inspection, weighing, cargo registration (photographic records), customs clearance and product nationalization, as well as inbound and outbound handling at port and airport terminals.

  • Project cargo

Our Project Cargo division will coordinate the shipment of your oversized or heavy cargo that cannot be containerized.

  • Solid bulk cargo

Shipment of bulk mining extraction materials. We have the capacity, machinery, and physical facilities required for the consolidation of solid bulk minerals.

  • Consolidation and deconsolidation in bonded warehouse

We offer consolidation and deconsolidation services in bonded warehouses, monitored by cameras that record every movement of the mineral or product being handled.
